Area of work: | He joined the Institute in 1995 as an engineer in the Power Supply and Data Acquisition Division (NB PS) of the Neutral Beam Injector (NBI) group. He was initially involved in the design of all major power supplies for the NBI and had also parallelly worked with the Large Volume Plasma Device (LVPD) for delivering its 4kA discharge power supply. Presently he is leading the NB PS division and is responsible for Power supplies, control and DAC system. He was involved in the in-house development of Regulated High Voltage Power Supply (RHVPS) systems for all heating systems and is recipient of patent for the design of the same. After delivering a prototype RHVPS (14 kV, 35 A) in 1999, three 80 kV rated RHVPS systems for the SST-1 were developed under his leadership which are in service today. In addition, he also worked on supplying, as an external project, a 100 kV RHVPS (24 × 7 duty) to BARC and is pursuing for 2 more of such systems. |

Area of work: | He received the Bachelor degree in the Electronics and communication engineering from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, India. He was responsible for the design control and interlock system of SST-1 neutral bean injection (NBI) system. He also designed data acquisition and storage system of NBI. He designed Filament power supply with EMI-EMC compliance for uninterrupted operation of NBI. He was responsible of daily NBI operation at initial phase of NBI operation. He took active participation in commissioning of the Cryogenic plant instrumentation and tuning control loops and after that operation and maintenance of plant. Initially at IPR, he was involved in development of analog and digital electronics of SST-1 tokamak diagnostics. He developed controller card, which is used to set various parameter of diagnostic electronics. He worked mainly in three major area of engineering titled Control, Instrumentation and Power supply in the NBI. Presently, he is working in control system division of ITER project. He is responsible to develop and maintain EPICS device drivers for the fast controller boards used in the control of various ITER plant systems. He is participating QA of various software component of CODAC core system or ITER. He is also central I&C integration responsible officer of Building and Utility (SSEN, PPEN and Liquid & Gas) plant system. |
